Our sustainable supply chain

At enviricard, we're making a conscious decision to drive change by providing genuinely sustainable card solutions.

Our cards, crafted from wood pulp and plant-based ingredients, are not only certified biodegradable and compostable to EN13432 (for industrial composting) but have also been independently tested for recyclability. This means choosing enviricard gives companies a significant carbon and plastic reduction, alongside a compelling sustainability story to share with their customers, shareholders and stakeholders.

The environmental excellence of our cards starts at the source. Our paper partners, Holmen, are leaders in sustainable forestry and paper and board production and operate from the foundation of the forest's natural ecocycle. They manage their forests in harmony with nature, prioritising biodiversity and maintaining a long-term view. This meticulous approach to forestry and production ensures that the raw fibre-based material for our cards is responsibly sourced from the most credible, renewable, and circular ecosystem.

Holmen's Iggesund mill, based in Sweden, is rated Platinum by EcoVadis, placing it in the top 1% of the most sustainable companies in the world. The mill runs almost entirely on biomass and maintains a zero-to-landfill policy. Furthermore, a recovery boiler at the Iggesund mill produces all the power needed for operations and even provides heating to the nearby community. It generates nearly all the electricity required by the mill and is connected to the grid, allowing it to output excess electricity to power other areas of Sweden when needed.

The all-important bio coating that makes our cards compatible with Direct To Card dye sublimation card printers is derived from plant extracts in place of fossil fuel oil. Our materials are sourced and produced in Europe, not the far East, which helps to minimise the CO2 impact related to transport, which is the largest contributor to the total carbon footprint of our cards.

For bespoke and preprinted cards, we print enviricard using low-energy consumption, groundbreaking Ricoh digital presses, which reduce production-based carbon emissions and waste significantly compared to standard printing methods.
